Everything that glitter ain’t gold
Nothing in life is perfect. So there might be a few times in your life that you go through what I call, the rock bottom season. It’s that time when nothing seems to go right. You might go through a break-up, have money issues, or just take multiple losses back to back.
This is when faith is tested.
Rock bottom seasons are essential because without them how can you grow? You have to go through something to learn something, right? Everyone has their own season’s, so never compare. Going through this rough time also helps you notice the smaller things to be thankful for.
When you come out of your rock bottom season you’re more cautious to not make the same mistake from before. You feel stronger and wiser because there was a point. That you thought things would never get better. That is when you can figure out if those situations were lessons or blessings.
I love figuring out that part.
2019 was my year of lessons. I realized when God answers prayers, it’s best that I listen the first time. Not the 3rd. I also learned that I am my worst enemy.
In this season of doubt and confusion, it’s very important to keep your faith. Especially when you don’t feel it. What you put into the world, is what the world will give back to you. That will determine your outcome. I know, it’s extremely freaking hard to stay positive when you’re in a dark space. But it is possible. Here are a few things that I did to help me get through the storm.
Meditation and Prayer
I’m going to be honest. I don’t even know if I pray the correct way. I just speak from my heart. Whatever I need to say, I say it. If I need to cry I do it. I pray anywhere and everywhere. No shame. Now, meditation is good for slowing down your thoughts. I use to think that I couldn’t meditate, but I just wasn’t trying hard enough. Meditation is a discipline of mind. Focusing on a vision or feeling. When I meditate I focus on my chakras.
Focus on yourself
Don’t go on social media comparing lifestyles you don’t know about. Focus on what you need to improve and how you’re going to come out of this season. Take care of your mental health. It’s ok to take a day to do something that makes you happy.
Figure out a plan of action
How did you get here? What can you do to get out of it? What needs to happen for you to be OK again? Jot down ideas and really plan out your life. Write out the pros and cons. Shit make a chart if you need to. Start somewhere. Then apply the actions.
Speak in confidence in yourself
How you speak to yourself will determine how things will turn out. It’s harder to let yourself down when you believe in yourself.
Surround yourself with positive influences
Energy attracts energy. Positive people will influence you to stay positive about your current situation. That’s the key to getting through the storm. If all you do is complain, I don’t want to be around you. If you need to cut certain people off at this time. Do it. Start to follow people you admire and who they admire. Also, try to follow like-minded professionals.
We all hit rock bottom at some points in our lives. Don’t ever think that you’re the only one. And don’t ever feel as if you’ll never get out of it. There’s always another path to take, it just depends on how you look at it.
It’s going to be alright, sis.
