Stop finding ways that you can’t do something and find all the ways that you can. Then go for it.

– Issa Rae

Hey, I'm Chantel Ciera

Finally, you reached the page all about me!

I am a Content Creator, Writer, and the Editor in Chief of LifeofBlackDaria.com. I create content that encourages women to live in their truths. I do this by writing about personal experiences & lessons learned, while still incorporating informative news on topics that relate to women. Which empowers women to live a more unapologetically, conscious life.

I’m kinda like your modern-day Sojourner Truth meets Issa Rae.

I was born and raised in New Jersey. Although, I always felt like I belonged in the south.

I’m pretty sure I was born in the south in a past life.

Trap music, southern cooking, and subwoofers are the keys to my heart.

I’ve always had an interest in storytelling. Since elementary school, creating short stories was my niche. I had a thing for making these Tyler Perry mixed with Spike Lee type of soap opera stories. Which I never wanted to share with anymore. They were just too deep and dark for me to show to the world.

I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my art. There were a lot of projects that I never shared with anyone.

I call myself an old soul because some of my ideas are way before my time.

It took me 28 years to channel deeper into my writing interest. Simply because I didn’t believe I could excel in it. I guess you can say, I had to go through life lessons to truly understand just how much writing is a part of who I am.

In 2013 I was blessed with seeing small glimpses into my future. I just wasn’t mentally prepared for it at that time. After graduating from The Academy of Art University in San Francisco with my Bachelor’s in Film and Television studies.

A degree that I have no idea how to use or if it’s useful, at 18 years old I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I was a kid still.

I secured an internship with BallerAlert as their editor/correspondent. BallerAlert is now one of the top gossip blogs of this time. What I realized, later on, was that this opportunity was an early glimpse into my future. I regret not taking it as seriously as I should have but I was young. I had to learn that patience is key when figuring anything out in life.

I had no patience at that time either. I wanted money and to be at the hottest party. I lived in Atlanta during this time. I was at Compound, Mansion, and Edgewood every weekend.

I use to be a party girl, now I can barely stay up past 10 pm.

So after 6 months, I stopped reporting for BallerAlert. I felt like I needed to do more but wasn’t exactly sure what it was just yet. I then began another internship with Hot 97, In Flex We Trust, a few months later. Doing the same editorial duties I did at BallerAlert. Again, another blessing I let down. I stopped working with both of them for 2 reasons, I needed money and I did not want to be a gossip blogger. I don’t even gossip in my real life so why would I gossip online. It just wasn’t me. But it was a step towards the direction I needed to be in.

I wanted to help people by creating influential reads that enlightened readers. Not bash or report news about people I know nothing about. I’ve been through a lot of trials that I feel some women have gotten through or are going through right now. I also have strong women around me that possess useful information for younger and older generations. Information that could help someone like you.

I needed to figure out a way to articulate this information to the world.

So I made my own way.

I’ve always been that go-to friend. The one that’s going to give you that deep yet uplifting advice. The friend that keeps it real with no judgments. I love the fact that some women trust me enough to help them on their journey of life. This is where my idea of LifeofBlackDara came from. Since I personally cannot be everyone’s go-to friend.

LifeofBlackDaria can be.

I am just a girl from Jersey with a thousand words that wants all women to live a conscious life.
