For the better
For those wondering, why I post every day on my IG story of what I am thankful for, here’s why.
I got the idea from my cousin Akilah, last year she did her 365 days. It was inspiring to see her being so thankful for everything around her. I remember saying to myself, “I’m thankful for that to girl”.
On New Year’s day, I felt good. I was in a peaceful space within myself. I was just so thankful for all I had. So I made an “I’m Thankful” post on the 2nd not thinking much of it. Until my friend hit me up asking if I was going to do it every day. I really thought about it and asked myself, why not? I needed to be more positive anyway. Plus I needed to break my cycle of never being consistent. I wanted to change, I needed a change. I’m a firm believer that you get what you put out in the world. So, I made the decision to find something to be thankful for every day. If I woke up, I would be thankful.
Everyday I try to find something new to be thankful for. It really depends on the day and what my needs were. I wanted it to be very authentic. I also wanted it to come naturally to me. So it could eventually become a habit. I don’t have a list of what I am thankful for. It can be anything or anyone that I’m thankful for.
I am halfway through the year and never missed a day. And I can honestly say, acknowledging what I am thankful for has changed my LIFE.
I am way more compassionate and understanding. I can literally feel my mental growth.
I’m starting to feel connected with my soul.
Sad truth; I used to wake up hating EVERYTHING! I honestly just wanted to sleep my life away at one point. I would take unnecessary naps to not have to deal with life. Or think of every excuse I could use to not go to work.
By the way, don’t do that. You’ll end up using all your PTO days at the beginning of the year.
After I decided to change my thought process. I started to become more aware of myself. I started becoming more productive and awake. I wanted to fully enjoy all my blessings in life more.
Being thankful really motivated me to want to do more.
Surprisingly it’s really easy to find something to be thankful for.
One day I was thankful for the air and water.
Life has so many ups and downs. But there’s always something or someone to be thankful for. It could be as small as a pen or as big as a memory.
I came up with an idea that challenged my mind. And I got to say, I’m really proud of myself. 365 Days of Gratitude humbled me. It helped me realize not everything is as bad as it seems. It helped my confidence. I now know for certain that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to. Not to mention that I’m super creative.
It has helped me see the good in all areas of my life. I guess you can say it opened my eyes to how precious life really is.
I am not the girl from last year or 5 years ago. I am really becoming the woman I daydream about and it all started with 365 Days of Gratitude.
Positive habits can result in a powerful outcome.
