Don’t Trip – Here’s A List of Black-Owned Businesses in NJ

Forever mood – is it Black-owned?

After an hour of googling Black-owned businesses in New Jersey. I couldn’t help, but to be embarrassed that I haven’t done this sooner! For so long we’ve shopped at places we are use to, places our parents were use to. Walmart, Target, Walgreens, the mall. Places that generate so much money that they’re able to have multiple franchises across the world. It made me think about all of the Black-owned businesses that sell the same products, but don’t have the financial backing as these big franchises. It made me wonder how much could change if we started spending our money in the Black community. A lot of people don’t realize that, there’s a Black-owned business that sells the same products as sold in stores. People all around the world have the same or similar businesses. What makes you think African-American’s aren’t doing the same?

The recent awareness on racial injustice and systemic racism. Has opened my eyes and heart to the bigger picture which is; the Black community needs support. We are so quick to support racist brands like, Aunt Jemima, Tommy Hilfiger, or H&M. So quick to turn the blind eye to a Black-owned business just because, you don’t know them. With out taking the time to really research all that is available. Majority of women go to Asian nail salons, because they are convenient. A woman will also make a quick run to Forever 21 or Express because it’s convenient.

Convenience has crippled us, but google can help us.

What if you could get everything you need from a Black-owned business? What if you could give back to the Black community just by choosing a different place to spend your money? Did you know that there are hundreds of Black creatives waiting for your business? Did you know that there are Black-owned companies in just about any industry you could think of? Imagine working with another Black creative who understands your needs, and who has created products or services specifically tailored for someone just like you.
